I was born a semi-diva. I married a redneck. Through the magic of osmosis or just because of a serious lack of sophistication over the years I have found a balance of the two that make me who I am today. And then I write about it all, much to the chagrin of my mother.

I'm a wise ol' bear
I woke up this morning at 8 to the sound of the phone ringing. I knew exactly who it was. It was Discover Card. Even though I made them a payment, it obviously wasn't as much as they think they needed. Therefore, they have made it a habit of calling my house oh....about 47 times a day. I simply do not answer the phone anymore. We have a machine, if you want to talk to me you leave a message. If you are a friend, family member or someone telling me I won something I will either pick up when you start talking or I will call you back. If you are Discover Card, I will not. But I know how DC works - they think they will catch you all vulnerable on Sunday morning at 8am, rushing around for church and the Wrath of the Lord will rain down upon you if you don't agree to send them your firstborn like immediately. So what did I do? I didn't answer the phone. I also still have my firstborn.

I hate Discover! I was one week late on a payment once and they called me at work! I told the lady that it was only about a week late and that I had sent it that morning. She said that it was their policy to track down late payments, even if it meant calling people at work. I threatened to close the account, but they lowered my rate so I kept it. Keep screening the phone calls, Mrs. Diva.

Courtney, trust me there is NO WAY I'm answering that phone. They've even started calling asking me nicely to return their calls. As if.
